Japanese People Celebrate Love In The Most Curious Way

Japanese People Celebrate Love In The Most Curious Way

Love is such a unique feeling, and Japanese people celebrate it in their own way. Although in most places, Valentine’s Day is recognized as the ”official” love day, different cultures rely on different celebration methods. In Japan, they celebrate this special day in their traditional, yet curious way. Here is what we know about how Japanese people celebrate Valentine’s day!

Women MakeThe First Move

Flowers with the world I love you

Yes, you read that right. In Japan, women are the one to make the first move on the men they love. In fact, the tradition says that the roles are reversed, and women gift chocolate to the men in their lives.

On February 14th in Japan, and instead of gifting jewelry, flowers or expensive treats, women offer chocolate and candy as presents. The interesting part though, and unlike other parts of the world, it almost seems that Japanese people celebrate Valentine’s Day in a one-sided manner.

Men Take One Month To Respond

Actually, men take one month to return the gift to their women. On March 14th, men bear gifts to their loved ones. The White Day is generally known as the day men return their heart-felt sentiments to the girls they are interested in. Although the gifts can be other than chocolate, there is an unspoken pressure of gifting the same present to the women. Literally, it takes men one whole month to pick the right gift, and choose who they gift it to.

Different Types of Chocolate Are a Must

There is something undeniably sweet about expressing your love on this special day. In Japan, it’s a big celebration, even for single people. In fact, as love has different ways of manifesting itself, the Japanese can gift all the men they consider important in their lives. However, not all men get the same type of chocolate.

Moreover, girls pick a specific honmei-chocolates for the men they are romantically interested in. Other types of candy and sweets can be offered to coworkers, family members and friends. However, one should be quite careful of which type of chocolate they choose, since on March 14th, they will know the response of those men.

Does Height Difference In a Couple Affect Their Relationship?

Does Height Difference In a Couple Affect Their Relationship?

Do you prefer taller or shorter men? Well, you better think twice about your answer, because it seems that height difference in a couple does affect their relationship.

In fact, several studies conducted by researchers at various Universities around the world. First, professors at Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea revealed shocking facts. Then, sociologists at NYU went the extra mile, and examined data since 1968.

Basically, and according to the findings, forget love at first sight and communication skills, because the taller your man is, the happier you will be apparently.

The Study Targeted a Large Focus Group

Now that we’ve established that height difference in a couple does affect their relationship, let us introduce you to how they came up with such a conclusion.

First of all, the Korean study targeted 7,850 women. Moreover, most women who have a taller husband reported to be happier in the relationship. However, the effect of happiness was minimized throughout time, revealing that some women also claimed to have a happy marriage even if their partner was shorter than them.

In addition, the NYU research used data from over 4500 families, and analyzed it through the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID). Their findings? Taller man have happier wives, and shorter men take longer to get married. However, in the latter case, divorce rates were 32 percent lower than in the case of tall men.

Consequently, the sum of studies realized did prove a correlation between height difference in couples, and how longer they are estimated to last. However, it was explained that it was due to gap in perception regarding men’s responsibilities in the couple.

Moreover, scientists argued that women relate height to masculinity, and that the taller a man is, the most likely for him to be supportive and helpful in the relationship. According to the research paper, “Short men may exchange their breadwinner status for less housework … because a lower share of housework or a higher share of relative earnings allow short men to enact traditional gender ideals, thereby performing their masculinity in the absence of symbolic anthropomorphic differences,”

Although most women would say that they prefer a ”taller” man, it’s no rule. Actually, a certain category of women admitted that their short partners were more attentive and showed more emotional involvement. Nevertheless, women are most satisfied when their partner was 8 inches (21cm) taller. On the other hand, men reported that they were less willing to date a taller woman.

In conclusion, studies explain that the height difference in a couple has a significant effect on the relationship. Being short in general is perceived as a less attractive and less successful. So, if you are looking for a long-lasting relationship, please go find yourself a man who is twice your size.

Bathroom Habits That You Should Be Giving Up ASAP

Bathroom and shower times are basically our sacred moment of the day. We each have our own habits, routines and unique way of doing things. However, there are some bathroom habits that you should be giving up. In fact, we consciously make some mistakes that will cost us a lot on the long run.

We have investigated the most common ”wrong” bathroom habits that you should be giving up ASAP. Here is what we found out.

You Need To Change Your Toothbrush Frequently

Toothbrushes are literally the synonym of clean. However, did you know that your toothbrush could contain as much germs as a dirty bathroom floor? In fact, researchers from The University of Manchester revealed that ” over 10 million germs are living on the average toothbrush”

The best way to care for your dental hygiene, is to replace your toothbrush every 2-3 months, and in the mean time, clean it through soaking it in some vinegar or lemon juice. However, make sure to follow-up clean it well with warm water.

Wash Your Towels Twice a Week

It makes perfect sense that towels get dirtier faster than clothes. Actually, if you don’t hang your wet towel under the sun after using it, then you should be taking extra cleaning measures.

Experts recommend you to wash and replace your towels at least twice a week, because the towel collects its fair share of dead skin cells. In addition, wet atmospheres create the best environment for bacteria to grow in.

Avoid Using Scented Soap On Intimate Parts

We cannot stress this enough! Please do not use scented soap, or any type of chemicals on your intimate parts. The main reason is that the chemicals found in shower gels and scents in general, unbalance the PH level of your genitals. Therefore, only resort to using smell-free soap, or specific PH neutral washing gels for your intimate parts.

Moreover, unbalancing your genitals’ PH level could lead to a yeast infection. FYI, this includes most bath-bombs…

Don’t Leave Your Razor In The Shower

Honestly, this one of those bathroom habits that we are all used to doing. I mean, who remembers to take their razor out of the bathroom after shaving? As a matter of a fact, and just like the towels, damp areas attract bacteria like crazy. Therefore, you should always keep your razor in a dry place.

In addition, another bathroom habit you should be giving up, is using the same razor more than twice or three times, in order to avoid all types of skin irritations.

Very Hot Water Is Bad For You

Did you actually know that ”healthy” showers do have a time limit? Well, they do, but we want to talk about this other habit that we often do, which is showering in burning-hot water. Yes, we absolutely love it. Does it make us feel more relaxed? definitely. However, your skin is paying the price of your comfort.

Projecting your skin to boiling hot water damages the skin tissues, and dehydrates it. According to dermatologists, if you suffer from high blood pressure or a cardiovascular disease, then hot showers could make them much worse. As oppose to cold water, which boosts your circulation. Ever wondered why football players’ training programs include iced water treatments?

Moisturize Your Body More Often

Although this is more of a post-shower habit, it is highly recommended to moisturize your skin very often. If you want a healthy, clear skin, then you should be making the effort of taking care of it.

Moreover, the best time to moisturize is not before bed, rather right after your shower. Why? because your skin is clean, and the doors are open for deeper absorption of the moisturizer.

Why Is It Harder For Independent Women To Find Love?

We often hear men say ” I want to be with a smart, independent woman.” However, when it comes down to reality, it’s harder for independent women to find love. In fact, studies prove that the smarter you are, the higher are your chances of staying single.

Nevertheless, the reasons may not be what you think. Yes, it is a fact that more men are becoming emotionally unavailable. Yet, the reason why it’s harder for independent women to find love goes beyond choosing the right men.

They Know What They Want

The untold truth about being an independent woman, is that you have learned from your mistakes and past failures in love. Therefore, they are more conscious about the fact that not everyone is their soulmate.

Furthermore, according to a study oriented by Psychology Today, women are less interested in casual meetings than men. Consequently, once they realize that the relationship they are having is not moving forward, they leave.

They Are Intimidating

Let’s think about it for a second: An independent woman is usually someone who had to fight their way through life. In addition to having twice the trouble than men to reach their goals, they also know how to value themselves. Hence, men find them intimidating, especially when they ”know” more than their men.

Also, Jenna Birch’s book ”The Love Gap”, the author examines the pressure men feel regarding being the provider. So, when a woman is capable of bringing just the same to the table, it creates a mental obstacle for some men, as it hits their ”masculinity”.

They Trust Their Intuition

Women have simply proven that their intuitions are stronger than those of men. Therefore, when she feels that something is off, an independent woman who has been through it before, knows it’s right. Moreover, women who end up trusting their intuition and not always following their hearts, find it harder to find love, yet report to be happier that way.

Either way, a strong intuition that something is not working out for you shouldn’t scare you. On the contrary, women who often trust their inner thoughts tend to make the right long-term decisions.

They Believe Being Single Is Not a Flaw

Ultimately, the main reason why it’s harder for independent women to find love, is because they believe that being single is a choice. While the society still pressures women into wanting love, getting married and having children, not doing so is not a flaw either. Independent women go by the principle that ” If it doesn’t make you grow then it’s not worth it.” In fact, many women reported that they felt much happier alone than in the relationships they’ve been in. So, being single is much healthier for you than the wrong relationship/man.
