Bathroom and shower times are basically our sacred moment of the day. We each have our own habits, routines and unique way of doing things. However, there are some bathroom habits that you should be giving up. In fact, we consciously make some mistakes that will cost us a lot on the long run.
We have investigated the most common ”wrong” bathroom habits that you should be giving up ASAP. Here is what we found out.
You Need To Change Your Toothbrush Frequently
Toothbrushes are literally the synonym of clean. However, did you know that your toothbrush could contain as much germs as a dirty bathroom floor? In fact, researchers from The University of Manchester revealed that ” over 10 million germs are living on the average toothbrush”
The best way to care for your dental hygiene, is to replace your toothbrush every 2-3 months, and in the mean time, clean it through soaking it in some vinegar or lemon juice. However, make sure to follow-up clean it well with warm water.
Wash Your Towels Twice a Week
It makes perfect sense that towels get dirtier faster than clothes. Actually, if you don’t hang your wet towel under the sun after using it, then you should be taking extra cleaning measures.
Experts recommend you to wash and replace your towels at least twice a week, because the towel collects its fair share of dead skin cells. In addition, wet atmospheres create the best environment for bacteria to grow in.
Avoid Using Scented Soap On Intimate Parts
We cannot stress this enough! Please do not use scented soap, or any type of chemicals on your intimate parts. The main reason is that the chemicals found in shower gels and scents in general, unbalance the PH level of your genitals. Therefore, only resort to using smell-free soap, or specific PH neutral washing gels for your intimate parts.
Moreover, unbalancing your genitals’ PH level could lead to a yeast infection. FYI, this includes most bath-bombs…
Don’t Leave Your Razor In The Shower
Honestly, this one of those bathroom habits that we are all used to doing. I mean, who remembers to take their razor out of the bathroom after shaving? As a matter of a fact, and just like the towels, damp areas attract bacteria like crazy. Therefore, you should always keep your razor in a dry place.
In addition, another bathroom habit you should be giving up, is using the same razor more than twice or three times, in order to avoid all types of skin irritations.
Very Hot Water Is Bad For You
Did you actually know that ”healthy” showers do have a time limit? Well, they do, but we want to talk about this other habit that we often do, which is showering in burning-hot water. Yes, we absolutely love it. Does it make us feel more relaxed? definitely. However, your skin is paying the price of your comfort.
Projecting your skin to boiling hot water damages the skin tissues, and dehydrates it. According to dermatologists, if you suffer from high blood pressure or a cardiovascular disease, then hot showers could make them much worse. As oppose to cold water, which boosts your circulation. Ever wondered why football players’ training programs include iced water treatments?
Moisturize Your Body More Often
Although this is more of a post-shower habit, it is highly recommended to moisturize your skin very often. If you want a healthy, clear skin, then you should be making the effort of taking care of it.
Moreover, the best time to moisturize is not before bed, rather right after your shower. Why? because your skin is clean, and the doors are open for deeper absorption of the moisturizer.
