This is not a movie<\/a> plot, although it could inspire one. Actually, the ghost metro station has become a historical spot in the capital city of Spain.<\/strong> The Chamber\u00ed’s underground station, holds so much history that it has become a main attraction in Madrid.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story<\/a> of this metro station dates back to October 17th, 1919<\/strong>. Chamber\u00ed became one of the eight stops of the first line of metro ever created in Spain. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And\u00e9n 0<\/strong>, The Ghost Metro Station<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

And\u00e9n 0 is the current name of the Chamber\u00ed’s platform<\/strong>. It was designed by Spanish known architect, Antonio Palacios<\/strong>. The legend says that during the Spanish civil war<\/strong>, many people took refuge in the station.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The walls of the station show evidence of how the bombings<\/strong> affected the infrastructure. Sometimes at night, people have claimed hearing voices and screams <\/strong>of people who probably died there,<\/strong> as a consequence of the war. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It Remains Closed Since 1966<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Following the Spanish post-war reforms<\/strong>, the metro of Madrid was a primary concern. Chamber\u00ed metro station is situated on line 1<\/strong>, between the stops of Bilbao and Iglesia<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1960 <\/strong>the Madrid Metro Community<\/a> decided to renovate all metro stations, and expand the lines. The platforms were lengthened from 60 metres (197 feet) to 90 metres (295 feet)<\/strong>. However, Chamber\u00ed’s closeness to neighborring stations didn’t allow for its expansion. Therefore, it was officially shut down in 1966, and hasn’t been used since. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free ”Ghost Station” Experience<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Due to the rising interest in the story of this metro station<\/strong>, it was decided to convert it into a museum<\/strong>. In 2008, it was opened to allow its visitors a free of charge experience. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And\u00e9n 0<\/strong> still represents the 60s in Spain. All billboards inside were preserved<\/strong>, and once you get in, you feel that you have reached a different era, and a different world<\/strong>. Chamber\u00eds’s ghost station<\/strong> is definitely worth a visit! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
