Many people watch videos on their mobile phones, meaning they don&#8217;t really get the most out of the plan they&#8217;ve paid for: <strong>screens are so tiny that HD doesn&#8217;t really make sense<\/strong> in these cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A lower price for lower quality<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why Netflix has come up with a new idea to <strong>become leader in the <a href=\"https:\/\/curiosifymagazine.com\/en\/how-technology-is-zapping-our-memory\/\">smartphone<\/a> industry<\/strong>: a new low cost plan <strong>just for mobile phones<\/strong>. The price would be around <strong>four dollars<\/strong>, and with it you can watch videos in a resolution of <strong>480p.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is quite <strong>low<\/strong> given what we are used to, but definitely enough to watch something on our mobile phones. It also poses the condition that you can watch each video<strong> just once. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/curiosifymagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/caspar-camille-rubin-VbGYLwHnw88-unsplash.jpg\" alt=\"Netflix for mobile phones\" class=\"wp-image-6781\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A special plan for mobile phones<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The plan is a tad more <strong>restricted<\/strong> than what Netflix usually offers, but good enough for what it <strong>costs<\/strong>. It brings their services closer to those who would, in other circumstances, <strong>not be able to afford it.<\/strong> For now, they&#8217;ve just launched the plan in <strong>India<\/strong>, a country where people <strong>tend to own a smartphone rather than a TV. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Netflix: a market leader<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The main objective of this project is <strong>become number 1 in this market, <\/strong>above other platforms that are currently making their way to the top, like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.primevideo.com\/?ref_=dvm_pds_amz_ES_lb_s_g|c_267060343172_m_IlPaQpVl-dc_s__\">Amazon Prime Video<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotstar.com\/\">Hotstar<\/a>. <\/strong>If the proposal turns out <strong>successful<\/strong>, Netflix will eventually<strong> extend it to other places like Europe or the United States.<\/strong> For now, we can just cross our fingers for it to be successful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Images: Twitter and Unsplash<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Netflix is launching a new low cost plan for smartphones in India.
