We live in a world in which our lives completely revolve around technology<\/strong>, and we couldn\u2019t even remember what life before it was like. However, as most of us are no tech-experts<\/strong>, it often happens that people start having misconceptions about technology and issues<\/strong>. We tell you some of the most common tech-misconceptions and why they are not true. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emptying the \u201cbin\u201d doesn\u2019t completely delete photos<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As long as nothing is written where the deleted archive was placed<\/strong> in the hard disc<\/a>, you can still recover<\/strong> the document. Windows keeps track of your files through a pointer<\/a><\/strong>, meaning every file in your hard drive has this pointer that indicates its location<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When said file is deleted, what actually happens is that just the pointer is deleted<\/strong>, but not the file itself.<\/strong> In other words, the document still exists inside your hard drive, your computer just isn\u2019t able to detect where<\/strong> anymore. There are ways to find out where your files are.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not necessary to let your laptop rest when it warms up<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If your laptop does heat up, you should go ahead an check its fan<\/strong>, as it might be a sign there\u2019s something wrong<\/strong> with it. Plus, turning it on and off is only good for shortening its lifespan. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Computers nowadays have power management systems <\/strong>that prevent you from having to turn off your laptop. Modern day smartphones run on lithium-ion batteries<\/strong>, and are programmed to stop charging when the battery is full. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

More megapixels doesn\u2019t necessarily mean better quality photos<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The only thing more megapixels guarantees is a bigger picture<\/strong>. It doesn\u2019t mean the quality will be better, contrary to popular belief. Quality is actually related to the lens and sensor<\/strong> of the camera. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So if you have either a bad lens or a bad sensor (or both), the photo will remain of bad quality no matter what the number of megapixels is.\u00a0<\/strong>What megapixels actually do, is transforming a visual image into a pattern of electronic signals. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using your phone excessively doesn\u2019t cause cancer<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If people have told you that using your phone<\/a> too much can cause cancer, they were lying to you. It is, in fact, not more that a myth<\/strong>. It turns out that the frequencies phones<\/a> emit are so low that human bodies can\u2019t even perceive them.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phones do emit electromagnetic radiation<\/strong>, but it is in the form of non-ionizing, radio frequency waves. <\/strong>The only known side-effect we have found is the generation of heat at the body part placed closer to the apparatus.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest concern linked to mobile phones is the effects they have on little children, <\/strong>who have yet to fully develop their brains. Studies have been carried out that prove that the side of the brain closest to the phone metabolizes more glucose <\/strong>than the other side, but any bad side effects from these findings are still unknown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The worst side-effects mobile phones have are things like tripping on sidewalks and being involved in car accidents<\/strong>, but it\u2019s all because they were paying attention to their phones instead of to life.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Closing apps doesn\u2019t increase your phone\u2019s battery life<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Apparently, closing the apps<\/a> you\u2019ve been using does not lengthen your phone\u2019s battery life span<\/strong>, opposite to what we have believed for many years. This has caused a popular habit of people closing their apps in the multitask window, when it\u2019s not even necessary.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many people have claimed it not to be true, but even Kyle Richter,<\/strong> former Apple technician and CEO of MartianCraft<\/strong>, has confirmed that closing apps does not only not affect its battery life at all, it could also be damaging the battery life. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contactless technology is as safe as can be<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
\"Contactless\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Contactless cards make use of the same technological security as cards with a chip.<\/strong> They have safe encryption technology,<\/strong> according to Howard Lewis<\/strong>, MasterCard money expert. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An accidental payment cannot happen<\/strong>, as your card has to be very close to the reader, and on top of that, the reader has to take a payment of the exact amount you key in.<\/strong> It\u2019s also impossible to pay twice: you will only be charged once.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
